EHCP & EOTAS

Specialist EOTAS Provision in Essex

At Futures-Essex, we provide structured, therapeutic and evidence-based educational programmes for children and young people who are unable to access a traditional school environment.

Many of the young people we support have experienced barriers to education due to anxiety, autism, EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance), sensory differences, trauma, mental health difficulties or complex SEND needs. Through highly personalised support, we help young people re-engage with learning, develop confidence, achieve meaningful outcomes and prepare for their next steps.

Our provision can form part of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), including Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) arrangements commissioned by local authorities

What is EOTAS?

Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) is a legal provision outlined within Section 61 of the Children and Families Act 2014.

EOTAS may be considered when a local authority determines that a child or young person's special educational needs cannot currently be met appropriately within a school setting. EOTAS enables education to be delivered through a personalised package tailored to the individual needs of the young person. This may include a combination of academic learning, therapeutic support, vocational opportunities, mentoring, community-based learning and preparation for adulthood.

At Futures-Essex, we work collaboratively with families, schools, local authorities and professionals to deliver high-quality provision that meets the outcomes identified within each young person's EHCP.
